Shannon Salyer

Shannon Salyer’s career spans four decades of service as a felony prosecutor, criminal defense attorney, and civil litigator, with extensive experience trying cases in Texas courts.

Shannon was born in Sacramento, California, and grew up in Bay City, Texas.  He earned his Bachelor of Journalism from The University of Texas at Austin in 1975. He received his Juris Doctor from St. Mary’s University in 1978 and was admitted to the Texas Bar that November.

After beginning his career in Port Lavaca, Shannon served as an Assistant District Attorney in Corpus Christi, prosecuting felony cases in Nueces and Kleberg Counties. In 1983, he joined criminal defense attorney Douglas Tinker. He later practiced civil law in Corpus Christi, representing clients in personal injury and workers’ compensation matters at Burket and Burket and at his own firm, Webb and Salyer.

In 1999, Shannon returned to Port Lavaca to serve as First Assistant District Attorney, a position he held until his retirement in January 2020. Now, returning from retirement to join the firm of counsel, Shannon brings the depth and perspective of more than four decades in practice to a broad range of legal matters.
